The Expendables are back for a fourth and final chapter in the long-running action franchise. This time, Sylvester Stallone's Barney Ross and Jason Statham's Lee Christmas must team up to stop a new threat: Iko Uwais's Rahmat, a ruthless mercenary who is planning to seize control of a stockpile of nuclear weapons.
The Expend4bles is a throwback to the action movies of the 1980s and 1990s, with over-the-top violence, cheesy dialogue, and plenty of explosions. The film doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is: mindless fun. And in that regard, The Expend4bles delivers. The action sequences are well-choreographed and exciting, and the cast is clearly having a lot of fun.
Stallone and Statham still have the chops to carry the film, and they are supported by a well-rounded cast that includes Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Dolph Lundgren, and Andy Garcia. However, The Expend4bles is not without its flaws. The plot is predictable and simplistic, and the dialogue can be cringeworthy at times. Additionally, the film's over-reliance on CGI is sometimes distracting. Overall, The Expend4bles is a fun and entertaining action film for fans of the franchise and the genre in general.
However, it's important to go in with your expectations in check. This is not a film that is trying to break new ground or win any awards. It's simply a mindless popcorn flick that delivers exactly what it promises: action, explosions, and Stallone and Statham being awesome.
